"ascending" eigenvalues?

The documentation I found for Evd<T> (http://numerics.mathdotnet.com/api/MathNet.Numerics.LinearAlgebra.Factorization/Evd%601.htm#EigenValues) says that the EigenValues property returns the matrix eigenvalues in "ascending" value. What is the sense of "ascending" here? The results I'm getting from a decomposition I'm performing don't seem to have any obvious ordering to me.

It seems the api reference is a bit inaccurate here. They are only in ascending order if the matrix is real symmetric (and thus all the eigen values are real).
